Understanding your Website Investment

Understanding your Website Investment

When we get enquiries for a website build we are often asked – how much will a website cost?

I found this a question that cannot be answered. Why? We need more information.

What does the website do?

What are you online goals?

Then – even with this information it seems like everyone expects a website to cost $500.00 – I need to tell you, that good websites do not cost $500.00, they are much more expensive than that but you need to remember why you get a good website.

This video will help to describe how we understand the actual worth of a website so you, as a client, can work towards reaching real goals.

Check it out on youtube and we will follow up with some tips on setting Goals inside Google Analytics to start to calculate the value of your website and what value it brings back into your business.

Yoast SEO 3.3 Publish bar update

The Publish Bar Update

With this latest update we get a really cool new UI on the Publish Bar Update.

I really like this feature because it highlights the SEO top level items before I press publish.

Even on this article it made me revisit my content to make it better and more SEO friendly, furthermore it made me do better analysis across all my content especially around transition words.

Yoast SEO Content Checks

New Content Checks

Yoast SEO now has 6 content checks including:

  • It will check sentence length
  • paragraph length and your use of subheadings
  • The use of passive voice
  • The use of transition words
  • Finally, we it will calculate your Flesch Reading Ease score

This makes it super easy to check your content, not only because it tells you a great list of features but it also gives you links to help documents on how to deal with each item on the list.

This is a big update from YoastSEO and you will see these updates in your Managed Website Service later today.

Do you have an SSL on your website?

Do you have an SSL on your website?

Having an SSL on your website is important.

SSL Certificates are used to establish a secure encrypted connection between a browser, the one on your computer and a server, a website you are visiting.

SSL connection protects sensitive data, such as credit card information or usernames and passwords, exchanged during each visit or session.

If your site has forms that ask for sensitive, personal information you should be using an SSL Certificate. Otherwise, that data is transmitted in clear text and anybody, such as a hacker, could intercept this transmission and collect, store or even sell this information.

Not having SSL on your site could mean that you are missing leads due to visitors not filling out forms on unsecured pages.

If you want to learn more about SSL please contact the team at M R K and we can assist you in understanding your requirements and make a recommendation.
